Liberty Bank Awards BNT with $5,000 Grant to Support Community Initiatives

Bridgeport, CT – On September 28, 2023, Liberty Bank’s mortgage lender, Linda Urbanec, presented a generous $5,000 grant award check to the dedicated staff at Building Neighborhoods Together (BNT).

BNT, established in 1986, is a HUD-certified nonprofit agency committed to addressing housing and financial insecurity, homelessness, and inequality in Fairfield County. Over the past 6 months, BNT has provided comprehensive programming to low- and moderate-income Connecticut families, assisting over 1,100 class participants and counseling more than 375 individuals on various topics, including financial fitness, budgeting, credit improvement, homeownership, and home retention.

Liberty Bank, founded in 1825 and recognized as the oldest and largest independent mutual bank in the country, shares BNT’s commitment to community well-being. With assets exceeding $7 billion and 56 banking offices across Connecticut, Liberty Bank is dedicated to making towns and cities better places to live and work. This grant from Liberty Bank will further empower BNT in its mission to eliminate housing insecurity, income inequality, and homelessness while fostering first-time homeownership and intergenerational wealth transfer through education and counseling. The funds will enable BNT to continue providing vital services and support to those in need in the Bridgeport community and beyond.
