June 21, 2021 – Liberty Bank Foundation Awards ERA with $10,000 Eviction and Rental Assistance Capacity Building Grant
In line with Liberty Bank’s goal to assist low- and moderate-income families, Liberty Bank Foundation awarded a $10,000 COVID Social Justice Program Project Grant to BNT in support its Empowerment Resource Academy’s (ERA) Eviction and Rental Assistance Capacity Building Program. This grant will help BNT increase its housing counseling staff by 2-4 persons in order to better meet the significant demand statewide and in Liberty Bank’s service area of New Haven, Hartford and Middlesex Counties, for BNT’s free rental assistance, financial crisis management, and eviction and foreclosure counseling services.
As one of Connecticut’s most active administrators of its $235M UniteCT rental assistance program, BNT has helped over 1,200 low- and moderate-income families receive up to $15,000 in rental and utility assistance to avoid eviction. However, while the current demand for BNT’s services is significantly greater than what it can support, this grant will go a long way in helping BNT serve more families in order to avoid eviction during this most difficult time.
BNT sincerely thanks Liberty Bank Foundation for this most generous grant!
Liberty Bank Foundation has also supported BNT in the past with grant funding, and we thank them for their ongoing support and mission to building better and stronger neighborhoods together.
